Tamar Designs was established in 1973 in a small workshop at Deviot, Tasmania to manufacture valve chests for the marine market in Australia.
During the period 1973 -1992 Tamar Designs expanded its product range to include the design and manufacture of hydro electric turbines and also became the Australian agent for the British ‘GILKES’ pump. Tamar Designs has exported hydro electric schemes to Fiji, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and other Asia/Pacific countries.
The company relocated in 1994 and further expanded, increasing it’s customer base to include local industry and become a significant general engineering support company. Design as well as manufacture has become a service offered that is attractive to industry.
